Hello Blog! Hello Goals!
With the world being utter chaos and a lot of my goals involving social aspects I didn’t know what to do about my goals. I wasn’t motivated to do much during this time (except get into dancing, which has been great for me mentally) and everything was just making me too stressed.
Right now I am a little bit behind on my initial plan of getting a goal accomplished every 4 weeks, but I’m starting to get my motivation back and I’m hoping to be knocking out a few more goals in the coming weeks.
Speaking of these goals! Let’s talk about Zip Lining and how have I never done this before!? I feel like I’ve missed out on so many zip lines and needless to say, next time I’m on a road trip and there is a zip lining attraction I’m going. Don’t care if I need to be somewhere, I gotta go zip around.
I’m normally such a baby with these sorts of things, but I only had a little bit of jitters for a moment and then no problem. Heck by the end of it I was running and jumping off the platforms. Plus I was the first person in our group to zip line today. I was with my friend who was the first in line to go down the zip lines and she full on stopped and had me pass her, I paused to look at her and all she said was “You’re going first.” Later she told me she was actually super nervous and I was apparently blind to it cause I was too excited and to focused on getting on the platform.
Without further ado, here are some dorky photos to prove that it happened:

I know of a zip line close to me!!!!! But, um, I’m NOT going. I mean, I kinda want to because it does seem like a lot of fun, but heights are a no-no for me (unless there’s a horse between me and the ground apparently). I’ve only ever had one opportunity to zip line really and I didn’t take it. I was like 11ish. It was at summer camp. We were climbing the climbing tower. Up 30 feet in the air. It took a couple of tries, but finally I did make it to the top right before we had to quit for lunch! But as my arms were resting on the top I could see the tower swaying and I was too scared to actually get on top of the tower. Which meant that I balaided back down instead of taking the zip line. I don’t think I would’ve been able to do it. Sitting thirty feet up on a little piece of wood I had to slide my butt off of. No. Then the next couple of years we did the high ropes course. I did not even attempt anything on the. Walking a tight rope 30 feet in the air having to reach for ropes hanging down. Having to pass someone while doing so. walking a log 30 feet in the air (actually, I maybe could’ve done that one, just without passing anyone…), and 100% hard NO to the leap of faith…climb up a pole 30 feet, stand on the top of the pole, and jump up in the air, trying to hit a ball floating up even higher and further away and then just being in the air. They then put in the giant swing and that was fun. I did that twice. I would do it again! The first time I only went up part way before they let me go (you got strapped onto a wire and all your friends used another wire to pull you up, then you let go of the wire they pulled you with and swing back and forth). First year I only went up part way. Second and last year I went up all the way. All 30 feet up. One of the counselors told me to close my eyes and they took me up all 30 feet. After a couple of swings (where the wire went slack because of momentum) I opened my eyes as my counselor yelled “you can open your eyes now!” When the wire went slack it was scary, but a lot of fun still! I would like to do the giant swing again. And this is the second time I’ve gone full on into story mode. Sorry. I’m in nostalgic story mode right now. Appropriately writing out all my camp memories!

Zip lining is super easy I swear. I legit went from tentatively starting to full on cannonballing into the zip line to go as fast as possible. I didn’t even notice how high I was at all cause I was so focused on going faster. And now that you mentioned the Leap of Faith I did something super similar on a tough mudder. Completely forgot about that. Yesterday I couldn’t remember if I had a fear of heights before zip lining, but then reading your memory lane I remembered a lot of the stuff I have done and I guess I’m lucky not to be that afraid. Maybe small jitters, but nothing paralyzing. I think if you go with someone it makes it a lot easier, especially if you go with someone chill and won’t make the anxiety worse.
